Bagong Pilipinas Devt Communication expands in SocMed

QUEZON CITY (PIA) — A training on development communication (DevCom) titled “Multimedia Training on IEC Production: DevCom through Social Media” was held on August 5–7, 2024, at the Verjandel Hotel in Quezon City.

This is attended by 56 personnel from the central and regional offices of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

The training emphasized the importance of DevCom in transforming communities, particularly in PIA’s operations.

“[The] PIA is not only about writing stories, organizing press conferences, and coordinating with LGUs. It’s really about DevCom; it’s transformational,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said.

“Together, we will make sure na kayo ang ka-partner namin sa grassroots and development communication sa Bagong Pilipinas (you’ll be our partner in grassroots and development communication in Bagong Pilipinas),” Garafil added.

The highlight of the training was providing the participants with knowledge on planning and content creation, along with strategies, best practices, and tools to expand DevCom in the social media community.

Meanwhile, PIA Director-General Jose A. Torres Jr. conveyed to the PIA workforce the importance of understanding and taking to heart one’s duties and responsibilities.
