BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — Do you want to be a Santa Claus and grant some wishes this Christmas?
The Baguio City Jail Male Dorm has wishing Christmas trees made from recycled materials and decorated with wish list notes of Persons Deprived with Liberty (PDLs) in the facility.
The PDLs’ wish lists vary from simple teddy bear, toys, shoes, clothes and school supplies for their children; gifts for their wife, parents and families; personal things for themselves; Noche Buena food products for themselves inside the jail or for their loved ones outside the facility, among others.

Baguio City Jail Male Dorm Warden April Rose Ayangwa, during the Christmas tree wish list launching on Wednesday(Dec. 13), said that this project is an initiative of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Cordillera Regional Director Atty. Kenneth Bid – ing.
This aims to encourage BJMP service providers, personnel, PDL visitors and kind–hearted individuals to help spread the spirit of kindness and help BJMP bring Joy and compassion to the PDLs and their families by granting their wishes.
Ayangwa said the jail facility currently houses 320 PDLs.
Kind- hearted benefactors who want to grant some Christmas wishes can visit the Baguio City male dorm along Abanao Street.
To date, there are already 10 wishes granted, Ayangwa said.
The public can also support the PDLs by buying their livelihood products that are on sale at the jail facility.
Ayangwa reiterated the call for love and compassion this Christmas season. “May the spirit of kindness permeate this festive season, bringing forth numerous wishes. Through this act of generosity, let the love that reigns make the children and families of the least among our brothers and sisters feel the warmth of compassion and care,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Baguio City Jail Male Dorm, in partnership with its advisory council, conducted a Concert for A Cause on December 16, which proceeds will be used to purchase Noche Buena food pack for the families of the PDLs, and to help fund the cost of materials for the house repair of a pre-identified PDL.
BJMP personnel will provide the manpower for the repair works. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
