Baguio City shares preparations for typhoon

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — Mayor Benjamin Magalong  shared the  preparations  being done by the city government for typhoon Marce.

All preparations that we’ve done before, we are still doing it now. First, the deployment of all our equipment were already pre-determined, and second  is our response team especially those from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC). Our uniformed services are well coordinated especially our force multipliers, and the most important is our communication systems, the mayor said.

“Wala kaming special preparations ngayon considering the fact na lahat ng preparations namin sa nagdaang typhoon “Kristine” at “Leon”, iyon na rin ang ginagawa namin ngayon, at looking at the current situation, hindi tayo maaapektuhan kasi minomonitor naming iyan, iyong movement niya , siguro magkakaroon lang tayo ng ulan late Thursday night until Friday morning,” Magalong said.

“So looking at the current forecast, hindi kami magkakaroon ng matinding ulan at hangin dito. Iyan ang lumalabas sa aming different weather applications dito sa Baguio.”

“We already have a well-established radio-net diagram that we review every time there is an upcoming or incoming typhoon which is a standard procedures and processes during coordinative meetings, and we make sure that all our equipment are well in place,” he said in a media interview.

For the barangays, we are making sure that they comply to our program on the “orange box” (much like a “ligtas kit”) containing tools that could be used during disasters, according to Magalong.

The Mayor said that based on the current forecast using their  various weather applications, they are  confident of a good weather this coming weekend. (MAWC/PIA-CAR)
