BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – The search begins for the Outstanding Women Leaders (OWLs) of Baguio 2025. The local government unit of Baguio and the Outstanding Women Leaders of Baguio City, Incorporated (OWL-BC, Inc.) launched the search on Monday (Oct.7, 2024) at the Baguio City Hall grounds.

Lumina Peil, the OWL BC, Inc. president, said that through the search, they aim to reward the women who are doing good things in the community that many may not have witnessed.

“When we look for outstanding women leaders for the Outstanding Women Leaders of Baguio, it’s an extraordinary leader. Someone that leads talaga. Someone that [has] something to lead, a group to lead,” Peil noted.

She encouraged members of the OWLS to find women in the different communities in the city that they can recognize or award in line with their good works.

Education, arts, women empowerment, violence against women, and security are some of the causes that the OWLs-BC is advocating.

Peil said they always look for the capability and sincerity of women doing projects. The duration of their involvement in a project or doing the good deed is a plus point.

The selection process for the OWLs is a three-tiered nomination, document validation, and personal interview. Different committees will take charge of the selection process.

Marybeth So, chair of the Search, said that even after winning the Outstanding Women Leaders of Baguio award, women leaders should continue doing their works for the benefit of the communities.

The annual search for OWLs is rooted in effectively assisting women and efficient implementation of community services and projects for the city of Baguio.

The Search for the OWLs has become the standard bearer of recognizing women who strive to improve the welfare and development of the public.
