Baguio’s Civil Registry Month Caravan brings services closer to the people

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — In celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month, the Baguio City Civil Registry Office initiated a Civil Registry Caravan at  the People’s Park, Baguio City on February 21, 2025.

According to Assistant City Civil Registrar Allan Abayao, this project aimed  to bring essential civil registry services   closer to the community  to  ensure that  everyone has access to vital documents and registrations.

Services offered include registration of unregistered births, request and issuance of civil registry documents such as birth, marriage and death certificate, and National ID registration.

Other  services were those of  participating agencies such as  the  City Legal Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Health Services Office, Philippine Statistics Authority – CAR/Benguet, PhilHealth, Social Security System, and Regional Alternative Child Care Office.

The caravan  drew  positive feedback from the beneficiaries.

“Maganda nga yung government initiative na ‘to kasi makakatulong sa mga taong wala pang national ID, kagaya ko na walang time para mag pa-national ID,” a college student said.

Alongside the caravan was a poster making contest  focused on the theme, “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System.”

Abayao  shared that as part of the  Civil Registry Month  celebration, they are scheduling barangay- based mobile registration, as well as  free issuance of birth certificate at the Civil Registry office  at T. Alonzo, Baguio City

Proclamation No. 682 declared February as the Civil Registration Month to strengthen and intensify the commitment and advocacy of the PSA to deliver effective and efficient civil registration and vital statistics to the clients and stakeholders.
