CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — The Balamban Water District (BWD) has now served 17,803 households in their coverage area as of November 2024.
During the 27th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, BWD general manager Engr. Dante B. Navarro discussed their ongoing and proposed projects for the improvement of the water supply in the municipality.
“We have ongoing construction of our office building and the rest in the improvement of our water supply,” Navarro said.
The site development and construction of a pumphouse for the completion of the Lomboy, Abucayan well is now also partially completed.
In 2025, BWD will start the implementation of the P10,000,000 worth of automation of the water supply system that is seen to be completed within the same year.
There will also be a P5,360,406.36 worth of new source development project in Barangay Cantu-od in 2025, which is expected to be completed in 2027.
Navarro recalled that during the onslaught of the Typhoon Odette in 2021, their pipelines were damaged, affecting their water supply delivery.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has recently approved P27 million for Balamban’s recovery and rehabilitation of water supply.
This is currently tagged as ‘ongoing’ in BWD’s lineup of projects and is considered as one of their major infrastructure projects.
BWD is also currently drilling wells for additional sources of water in Barangay Lamesa, Sitio Casili in Mangharap and Daylor in Abucayan, and Nangka.
To also help ease the consumers in their bill payment, Navarro said BWD is currently working with CIS Bayad Center for GCash online payment to be added in their payment options.
“We have online and in-house payment options. We have an online partner also, MLhuilier, LandBank, and we are working out CIS Bayad Center for GCash,” Navarro said.(JJT/PIA 7 Cebu)
