Banaue MPS outreach activity serves 30 PWDs

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — The Banaue Municipal Police Station (MPS) spearheaded a  Christmas gift giving activity at barangay Gohang on December 12, 2024.

Banaue MPS acting Chief of Police Captain Ricardo Bengwic said 30 persons with disabilities (PWDs) from barangays Gohang, Uhaj and San Fernando and other residents were served during the event.

The PWDs were provided assorted goods donated by the Banaue MPS, Michael Stalley from England and a resident of barangay Cambulo and other donors. Stalley shared clothing, shoes and eyeglasses to other  recipients.

Other activities conducted include a short program, information drive about the Anti-Bastos Law and “Implan Paniyo” (anti-rape campaign) and free haircut by police officers.

Gohang Punong barangay Joel Gano thanked the Banaue MPS and other donors for conducting the outreach activity in their barangay that benefited the beneficiaries including from other barangays.

“For my constituents and officials of other barangays, thank you for supporting the event that helped recipients address some of their basic needs, we hope to receive more assistance in the future for the PWDs,” he added.

Barangay Kagawads Noah Pucya and Jackson Bu-ocan of San Fernando and Uhaj, respectively also expressed their thanks and gratitude to the police and other donors for initiating the activity for the PWDs.

The outreach activity was anchored to the “Adopt a Family Program” of the Philippine National Police to help those who are less fortunate and let them feel the spirit of Christmas as well.

Some may have lonely and hard Christmas while some have happy and prosperous Christmas. Before getting caught up in the festivities, this station considered offering simple gifts and smile to the abovementioned beneficiaries as well as prayer for good health and safety,” the Banaue MPS stated.
