Marawi high school students undergo career guidance, employment coaching

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) here, in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), has conducted a career guidance and employment coaching program at Marawi National High School.

The program was attended by Grade 12 senior high school students of the said school.

The program was aimed at helping the students in their career path or choices as they enter their college years. The students were shown the 'in-demand' jobs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as well as in Lanao del Sur province so that they could better choose the best course they should take in college and land jobs after graduation.

According to Chief of Labor and Employment Officer Yahya B. Sabal, the program is conducted monthly on a school-to-school basis, where 50 to 70 students in each school are chosen to join the coaching program.

"We are going to share our other programs about youth like if they graduated college they still have the opportunity to apply to another program of MOLE, the government internship program," he said.

Meanwhile, LGU-Marawi City PESO Head Cabsaran A. Pacasum Jr. is also positive that the career-related activities they did in the program will help the children in the courses they will take in college.

"Ako ay very optimistic dahil ginagawa na ito ng Public Employment Service Office, ng Local Government Unit of Marawi at ng Ministry of Labor and Employment. Tiwala ako na mabibigyan ng mas malinaw na guide para doon sa mga bata na gustong mag-proceed sa college o kaya ay mag-enroll ng technical, vocational, at skills training tulad ng sa TESDA," he said.

(I am very optimistic because the Public Employment Service Office, the Local Government Unit of Marawi, and the Ministry of Labor and Employment are already doing this. I am confident that a clearer guide will be given to those who want to proceed to college or enroll in technical, vocational, and skills training like in TESDA). (JND/PIA Lanao del Sur)
