Barangay Drug Clearing Program implementers undergo effective communication training

DAPITAN CITY (PIA) – Aiming to capacitate trainers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively train their constituents, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-9 collaborated with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-9 to give training sessions on effective communication as part of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) implementation in Zamboanga del Norte province.

PIA-9 Acting Assistant Regional Head Emmanuel Taghoy conducted back-to-back lectures on Effective Communication and Communication for Development (C4D) while Pamela Joyce Fumero, information officer, gave tips on how to create an effective powerpoint presentation.

Taghoy touched not just the key points in verbal communication, but also highlighted the importance of body language, tone, and connecting with their audience.

“For our trainers to effectively train their constituents, they need to understand and apply the necessary skills in communication,” he said.

“The flow of information hinges on effective communication,” he added.

PDEA-9 also conducted lectures that included but were not limited to the roles of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), the stages and activities of the BDCP Implementation, the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing, Declaring Drug Affected Barangays as Drug-cleared, and the Validation Process of the drug-cleared status among other things.

After the lectures, participants composed of representatives from local government units, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted a return demonstration wherein they presented different topics under the BDCP Implementation.
