Barangays in La Union town receive multi-purpose vehicle

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) — The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) turned over a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to each of the 33 barangays in Bangar town on Nov. 16.

Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, who led the simple turnover rites at Bangar Covered Court, said the acquisition of the multi-purpose vehicles was made upon the request of the barangay leaders to provide better services for their constituents.

The governor said some barangays have different priorities such as road concreting, livelihood or waterworks system, following consultations with the officials of their respective barangays.

“Batid ko po ang inyong pangangailangan sa mga ganitong equipment lalo pa po at kayo sa baranggay ang nangungunang tumutugon sa mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kaprobinsya at sa pagbabayanihan ng PGLU at LGU Bangar,” Ortega-David explained.

She urged the barangay chairpersons to maintain and take good care of the units so they can still be used in the coming years.

“These MPVs will be for first response po sa mga barangay po ninyo in times of emergencies, calamities, kaya sana gamitin po ninyo nang maayos at sa tamang paraan ang mga ito,” the governor said.

She also underscored to maximize their use without political color so all can be served.
