QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The family of the slain retired police general and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board secretary Wesley Barayuga thanked the House Quad Committee (QuadCom) for the immediate reopening of the case in 2020.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 1, the Barayuga family also thanked the witnesses at the QuadCom hearing on Sept. 27 for coming forward to give their testimony that prompted the reopening of the case.
“This gives us comfort even while we know that we are still far from receiving justice,” the Barayuga family said.
“Sa huling apat na taon inupuan ang kaso at pinaaasa ang aming pamilya na may ginagawa sila ukol dito. At this point, it is difficult to trust and put our hopes up” (In the past four years they sat on the case and made us believe they were doing something about it. It was a false hope.)
But the family believes that the reopening of the case is God’s way for them to get justice, as they asserted that the allegation of dragging Wesley into the drug case was his accusers’ way of covering their tracks.
The family also thanked all those to expressed support for them.
