BARLIG, Mountain Province (PIA) — The Municipality of Barlig celebrated its 58th Foundation Day and 18th Fortan Festival reliving its rich and deep culture and improving sustainable economic activity in the area.Ā
With the theme “AMMAY: šppreciating the š ajestic and š agnificent Culture of Barlig, šdvocating Unity š¬ielding Community Development,” the celebration featured street dancing competition, cultural presentations and indigenous games, as well as sports events.Ā
A civic cum product parade, agro trade fair, Good Agricultural Practices training, and Farmersā Day were also held to show support to farmers.
Department of Agriculture (DA)-Cordillera Regional Executive Director Jennilyn Dawayan, in her message, assured that the DA will continue to support the municipality through proposed projects or programs for the agricultural development of the municipality.

As I have been telling the other mayors during discussions, ānu sino ti naga-gaget nga mayor ken participative isuda ti maka ad-adu ti projects kasi we do not also want to support projects that are not supported by the local government. Barlig is a recipient of various DA projects among them the heirloom rice projects, establishment of Philippine Rural Development Project facility in partnership with theĀ Barlig Development Cooperative, potable water system for Lias, Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) program for the Kadaclan Indigenous People’s Organization, livestock initiatives through the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion Project and Rice Farmer Financial Assistance (RFFA).Ā
In continuing support to the agri sector, DawayanĀ awarded some P15 millionĀ worth of projects to the town led by Mayor Clarence Ngaya Ā for the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program worth P10 million, Special Area for Agricultural Development in the amount of Php 1.7 million,Ā and sustenance of RFFA,among others.Ā
During the opening program on June 13, the Department of Trade and Industry and theĀ local government unit of Barlig unveiled the Negosyo Center Office in the municipality.
DTI Provincial Director Mabel Banggawan said the Barlig Negosyo Center is the ninthĀ established in Mountain Province.Ā Ā Ā
The establishment of the Negosyo Center provided underĀ Republic Act No.10644, otherwise known as the āGo Negosyo Act,āĀ aims to promote ease of doing business and facilitate access to services for micro, small, and medium enterprises. ItsĀ services include facilitation of business registration(Business Name Registration and Barangay Micro Business Enterprises), business advisory andĀ information services, and monitoring and evaluation of business process improvement of MSMEs.
