COTABATO CITY (PIA) — Fifty housing units are now complete and ready for occupancy by designated indigent beneficiaries from this city, the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) said.
It said it has successfully completed a housing project valued at P25.15 million in Barangay Poblacion 9 in this city as part of its Housing Resettlement Project.
The housing units aim to enhance the living conditions of beneficiaries by providing them safe and comfortable homes.
“This is a showcase of accomplishment, wherein we show through our contractor, MINROCK, that the project is completed and, in shaa Allah, at the right time, we can turn it over or award it to our identified beneficiaries,” said MHSD Director General Esmael Ebrahim.
The MHSD described each housing unit as having a floor area of 49 square meters, featuring three bedrooms, one comfort room, and a porch. This project was funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro government.
Ebrahim stated that the housing units will be handed over to the designated beneficiaries in the upcoming weeks.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Guiapal, the owner of MINROCK Multi-Builders, a contracting partner of BARMM, highlighted the project’s significant mission, expressing his belief that this initiative will establish a foundation for enduring change in the region.
“From the very start, we know that this project was not merely about constructing houses but building futures and creating a space where families can leave with dignity, security, and hope,” he said.
MHSD also announced the construction of an additional 50 housing units in Barangay Kalanganan II, located in this city.
Based on data from the MHSD, more than 3,000 housing units have been completed in various areas of the Bangsamoro region.
The housing projects also align with the first Bangsamoro Development Plan and the MHSD’s mandate under the Bangsamoro Organic Law to ensure proper shelter and livelihood for vulnerable sectors in the region. (With reports from MHSD-BARMM)
