BARMM holds first 4Ps youth camp

COTABATO CITY (PIA) — The Bangsamoro government, through the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), has organized the first Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4Ps Youth Camp 2024, in a bid to raise awareness and understanding of the 4Ps among the Bangsamoro youth.

At least 32 youth leaders and 4Ps youth beneficiaries from the mainland provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) attended the youth camp.

Norjanna Pendaliday, a 4Ps youth development specialist, described the event as a good venue for youth leaders to improve their public speaking skills while sharing what they know about the program.

“This youth camp is also for the personal growth of our youth leaders in strengthening their public speaking and leadership skills, as well as to provide them with more knowledge on 4Ps,” she said.

According to the MSSD-BARMM, the three-day activity aimed to empower young leaders by giving them a thorough understanding of the 4Ps, specifically tailored for the Bangsamoro region.

During the event, the participants engaged in a variety of workshops, lectures, and interactive activities that focused on leadership development, community building, and the specifics of Republic Act 11310, also known as the 4Ps Act.

“This event also aims to enhance their social development skills and how to socialize with their fellow youth leaders, and also mai-share nila ‘yung experiences nila sa kanilang kapwa kabataan [they can share their experiences with their fellow youth],” Pendaliday explained.

Youth participants also underwent team-building exercises, outdoor adventures, and cultural practice sharing, promoting friendship and camaraderie among them.

“The three-day activity gave us an opportunity to really know the 4Ps and their benefits to indigent families,” said participant Airehan Nur.

Nur believes that MSSD has provided the intervention to enhance youth understanding of 4Ps.

Launched in 2008 and institutionalized in 2019, the 4Ps in the Bangsamoro region is implemented by the MSSD.
