MARAWI CITY (PIA) — The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) has completed the construction of 100 new homes in Barangay Pindolunan, Saguiaran. These were officially turned over to the local government on August 18.
“Building permanent housing units for its citizens is among the Bangsamoro Government’s priorities because many were displaced from their communities due to past conflicts and calamities,” said MHSD Minister Hamid Aminoddin Barra
Barra commended the Saguiaran municipal government for efficiently implementing the housing project and expressed confidence that it would benefit deserving families.
Saguiaran Mayor Jalalodin Angin thanked the Bangsamoro Government for granting them this project. He noted that when they first visited, the area was still unpassable and undeveloped, but now it has transformed into a new community.
“All of the things we see right now in our communities are from the BARMM Government. Just a month ago, the Marawi Rehabilitation Program (MRP) also conducted a groundbreaking ceremony here in Barangay Cadayonan to start the construction of additional 50-unit resettlement housing,” the mayor said.
Members of Parliament Said Sheik and Marjanie Macasalong, representatives from MP Abdullah Macapaar’s office, and Barangay Pindolunan officials also attended the turnover ceremony.
On the same day, MHSD led a groundbreaking ceremony in Barangay Lilod Tubok, Tamparan, to begin the construction of 50 houses funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act of Bangsamoro.
This year, MHSD signed memoranda of agreement with various local government units in the province and held groundbreaking ceremonies in several Lanao del Sur municipalities to start housing projects.
In addition to Tamparan, housing resettlement units are under construction in Lumbayanague, Madamba, Masiu, Maguing, and Buadipuso-Buntong. According to Barra, groundbreaking ceremonies will also be held in Pualas and Butig in the coming weeks. (BIO/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
