MARAWI CITY (PIA) — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao-Marawi Rehabilitation Program (BARMM-MRP) is steadfast in its commitment to providing essential support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) here through its Educational Cash Assistance Program.
This initiative recognizes the crucial role of education in fostering sustainable development and long-term recovery for the city and its residents affected by the 2017 siege. By providing financial assistance to Marawi IDP students, the BARMM-MRP aims to empower them to continue their education, contributing to the city’s ongoing rehabilitation for future growth.
The program offers one-time cash assistance to Marawi IDP students enrolled in Tertiary (College) Level/ Kulliya Morit and Secondary (Highschool and Senior Highschool) Level /Thanawi and Mutawassit. To ensure wider access, the program limits eligibility to three applicants per household.
Rainifah S. Rangiris, a second-year Nursing student at Mindanao State University-Main Campus, expressed her gratitude for the program: “This program of BARMM-MRP is a huge help for us who experienced the Marawi siege. It can significantly support many students.”
Another applicant, Johaira M. Angad, a second-year college student at Mindanao Institute of Technology (MIT), emphasized the importance of the assistance for her family: “I hope to be approved for this Educational Cash Assistance, as it would help students like me, especially in easing the financial burden on my mother.”
The walk-in application period for the assistance remains open until September 13, 2024, at Hanes Building, Panggao Saduc, Marawi City. Applicants are advised to bring the required documents when submitting their applications.
The BARMM-MRP is one of the special programs of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim, aiming to support the rehabilitation of Marawi as part of the 12-Point Priority Agenda of the Bangsamoro Government. (BARMM-MRP/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
