MARAWI CITY (PIA) — The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) has reiterated its commitment to improving local governance and promoting moral governance at the community level.
This was emphasized during a two-day workshop for regional and field officers held April 8–9 at Park Inn by Radisson, Davao City.
Lawyer Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba, MILG Minister, said the reform agenda is guided by the Local Government Functionality and Appraisal (LoGFA) mechanism.
“LoGFA is more than an assessment tool—it is a mirror of how local governments serve their people. It allows us to identify gaps and intervene where necessary,” said Dumama-Alba.
She added that, through the mechanism, the ministry upholds the standards of moral governance, ensures accountability, and empowers LGUs to be responsive to the needs of the Bangsamoro.
Operations Management Services Director Fausiah Romancap-Abdula highlighted the role of Local Government Operations Officers (LGOOs) in advancing the program.
“LoGFA is not just a technical exercise—it is a transformational program. As LGOOs, your role is to guide and capacitate our LGUs, not just to meet the standard, but to raise it,” she said.
MILG continues to lead initiatives to align local governance with BARMM’s development objectives and that all Local Government Units (LGUs) in the region is equipped to serve their communities effectively. (BIO/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
