MARAWI CITY (PIA) — A new digital governance center that offers faster and more convenient access to public services was launched in Marantao on April 2 by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) of the Bangsamoro Government, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The center is the third of its kind in Lanao del Sur under the Localizing e-Governance for Accelerated Provision of Services (LeAPS) Program, a joint initiative of MILG and UNDP.
MILG Operations and Management Services Director Fausiah R. Abdula said the facility functions as a one-stop shop for e-government services, including applications, requests, and other transactions.
“This facility has a queue management system and a technical assistance station, which enhances the public service experience for clients,” Abdula said.
She added that “LeAPS serves as the bridge between the government and its constituents, removing hassles with just one click to access services.”
The center also prioritizes services for vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and pregnant women.
Municipal Administrator Lawyer Alauya Alonto expressed appreciation for the project.
“The LeAPS project not only equipped us with computers and other tools but also provided a generator and internet connection. This ensures smooth public service delivery despite sudden brownouts,” Alonto said.
“We are very grateful to MILG and UNDP for choosing us as one of the partner beneficiaries. Imarantaons no longer have to endure heat or rain while queuing for their turn,” he added.
MILG’s Lanao del Sur Provincial Office manages and monitors the digital centers in Butig, Piagapo, and Marantao. A similar facility is being built in Taraka.
The LeAPS Program supports the Bangsamoro Government’s 12-Point Priority Agenda for 2023–2025, which includes expanding digital infrastructure and e-governance in the region. (BIO/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
