COTABATO CITY (PIA) — The monthlong art exhibit featuring the works of Bangsamoro artists is ongoing at the Bangsamoro Government Center Museum in this city, in celebration of the National Arts Month.
Organized by the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Culture and Heritage (BCPCH), the exhibit aligns with this year’s theme, “Ani ng Sining, Diwa at Damdamin,” which emphasizes the connection between art, emotions, and cultural identity.
The display, dubbed Landung Exhibit, showcases the creativity and deep cultural roots of the Bangsamoro people. On display are the winning pieces from the 2023 and 2024 National Arts Month competitions in the Bangsamoro region.
In his message, BCPCH Chairperson Salem Lingasa emphasized that the Bangsamoro government takes pride in supporting and promoting Bangsamoro artists.
“Each piece in this exhibit is a witness to the skill, dedication, and passion of our artists. Art serves as a bridge connecting our past, enriching our present, and shaping our future,” he pointed out.
He also said that this year’s theme for National Arts Month resonates with the office’s mission in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro.
“It reminds us of the abundant artistic talent that thrive within our communities, the indomitable spirit that fuels our creativity and profound emotions that our arts express,” he added.
The BCPCH also held a unique ribbon-untying ceremony using the traditional Maguindanaon Inaul fabric, different from the usual plastic ribbon-cutting during the launch of the Landung Exhibit.
Also featured in the exhibit are the paintings of renowned Bangsamoro artist Ricanor Uday, titled “KULAY ng iMAHiNASYON.”
Uday also shared his artistic journey and provided valuable insights to young aspiring Bangsamoro artists who were also present during the launching of the Landung Exhibit.
“Isa po ito sa aking advocacy kasi may edad na tayo, gusto ko na may mga Bangsamoro na bagong sibol at maipagpatuloy ang ating adbokasiya,” he said.
(This is one of my advocacies because we are getting older, I want the newly emerged Bangsamoro to continue our advocacy.)
The public is also encouraged to visit the exhibit from Feb. 18 to 28, and show their support for Bangsamoro’s homegrown talents. (LTB-PIA Cotabato City)
