MARAWI CITY (PIA) — The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) convened with local government units (LGUs) of the Second District of Lanao del Sur on October 25 to assess the status of ongoing infrastructure projects, identify implementation challenges, and coordinate efforts to ensure efficient completion and adherence to quality standards.
“The main purpose of this coordination meeting is to align our efforts in delivering infrastructure to our communities in Lanao del Sur’s 2nd District. With many monitoring our work, project implementation is progressing just as quickly, especially with the involvement of the LGUs,” said MPW Deputy Minister and OIC-District Engineer Abdul Maomit Tomawis.
He said that after completing coordination meetings with contractors and suppliers, the Ministry is now collaborating with LGUs to understand their needs better and identify ways to provide support.
He also explained that they prioritize projects according to the Bangsamoro Development Plans and that this meeting assesses their progress—checking which projects are completed and if they are on track.
MPW has convened similar meetings with planners and the municipal development council in previous years to discuss the infrastructure needs of Bangsamoro communities.
The Ministry is now evaluating the number of projects successfully implemented, and so far, we are seeing promising results,” said Tomawis.
On the same day, MPW signed a mass contract with its winning private contractors to officially start constructing the 10 projects aimed primarily at improving connectivity in the 2nd District, with a total budget of P223.3 million. (BIO/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
