Basilan Medical Center unveils new logo

ISABELA CITY, Basilan (PIA) –The Basilan Medical Center, formerly known as the Basilan General Hospital, unveiled its new logo recently, serving as a symbol of transformation and progress in healthcare for the people of Basilan. 

Dr. Sitti Nurusamsi Amilasan, chief of the Medical Center, emphasized the significant changes in the health facility, upgrading it from a 100-bed hospital to 500-bed medical center, poised to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the local population by virtue of Republic Act No. 12056.

“It reflects our shared commitment to provide accessible, inclusive, and quality healthcare services for all Basileños,” she noted in her message.

Dr. Amilasan expressed her gratitude towards Representative Mujiv Hataman for his unwavering dedication and efforts that championed this historic bill in the Senate. 

“Your vision for a healthier Basilan has inspired all of us,” she said.

Dr. Amilasan stressed that under the new law, the Basilan Medical Center will operate as a Level 3 general hospital, aligning its mission with the Department of Health (DOH’s) eight-point agenda aimed at delivering safe, high-quality, and responsive medical services, particularly in times of crisis and pandemic.

“As provided under the law, the Basilan Medical Center, as 500 bed capacity level 3 general hospital shall follow the DOH’s 8 point agenda and shall align our mission and vision for the ligtas, dekalidad at mapagkalingang serbisyo, teknolohiya para sa mabilis na serbisyo, handa sa krisis, proteksyon para sa anumang pandemya and we shall promote and protect our workforce para sa kapakanan at karapatan ng health workers,” Amilasan said.

Meanwhile, Representative Mujiv Hataman, who played a crucial role in advancing the upgrade, shared reflections on the struggles faced during the pandemic, which fueled his commitment to enhance healthcare services in the province. 

DOH Usec. Achiless Gerald C. Bravo underscored the critical need for additional staff to ensure the hospital’s success. He committed to fast-tracking the opening of new plantilla positions to support this transition. 

“Ang hinihintay nalang natin ngayon ay pabilisan ni Dra. Sitti yong IRR, I’ve already talked with DBM Central Office. Kahit hinihintay natin yong IRR ninyo, we will fast track the creation of the positions,” he said.

The Basilan Medical Center marks a new era for healthcare in the province, set to provide improved services and facilities for the community.
