LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The state-run Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) for the Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP).
It was formalized by MMSU President Dr. Shirley Agrupis and Ma. Gisela Tiongson, president of JGF.
The said program is aimed at empowering smallholder farmers and promoting the development of sustainable agro-enterprises.
Moreover, it also focuses on enhancing the capacity of local implementing partners (LIPs) to support farmer groups through an agro-enterprise clustering approach.
The said approach highlights the importance of adopting food agricultural practices, utilizing agricultural technology, and acquiring relevant expertise.
Farmer groups will undergo direct coaching to capacitate them as preferred suppliers for institutional markets, including Jollibee Foods Corporation.
“We are honored for the trust and confidence of Jollibee, one of the most trusted brands in the Philippines,” said Agrupis, as she expressed her gratitude for their collaboration for the farmers.
Meanwhile, Tiongson also conveyed her confidence that their partnership with the university will yield significant and positive outcomes. (JCR/MJTAB PIA Ilocos Norte)
