BATANGAS CITY (PIA) – More than a hundred day care centers have raised a total of P2 million in a fund-raiser that involved recycled wastes.
To mark the National Children’s Month every November, 105 day care centers jointly conducted a fund-raiser which also helps to educate children about recycling and sustainability. The activity was meant to encourage children to sell the highest amount of recyclable materials.
Other activities were conducted including the Search for Batang Makakalikasan held at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum on November 28.
In addition to raising funds, the event provided an opportunity to teach children how to reduce, reuse, and recycle household wastes.
“I am pleased with the experience and knowledge that the children gained in this activity. It teaches them how to segregate garbage and take care of our nature and environment,” a parent shared.
As part of the program, children were garbed in costumes made from recyclable and indigenous materials.
The proceeds from the fund-raising activity will be donated to various projects of Child Development Centers (CDC) in Batangas City.
A Belle Subol and Sebastian Gery Santuele of Infant Jesus Child Day Care Center were hailed as Batang Makakalikasan 2023.
Other special awards and consolation prizes were also given out to some participants. (Bhaby P. De Castro-PIA Batangas; with reports from PIO Batangas City)
