MANILA, (PIA) — In a significant move to bolster digital infrastructure across strategic locations in the Philippines, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and Phil-Tower Consortium Inc. (PhilTower) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing digital connectivity in key areas, including Bonifacio Global City, New Clark City, and Morong Discovery Park.
The MOU was signed by Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang, President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) of BCDA, and Mr. Devid Gubiani, President and CEO of PhilTower and MIESCOR Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC). This partnership is expected to strengthen the telecommunications sector through the consolidation of PhilTower and MIDC, creating a formidable entity poised to deliver innovative solutions and expand its reach nationwide.
PhilTower has already established a strong presence in New Clark City, managing essential rooftop infrastructure at the Government Building and the National Academy of Sports, which are vital for the area’s connectivity and technological advancement.
Engr. Bingcang emphasized the importance of building robust digital infrastructure as a cornerstone of development.
“Collaborating with PhilTower, a leader in shared telecommunication infrastructure, aligns perfectly with our vision to create smart, future-ready urban centers and economic hubs,” he said.
“This partnership aims to bring comprehensive and high-quality digital connectivity to our areas of interest, supporting innovation, economic competitiveness, and sustainability,” he added.
Mr. Gubiani echoed this sentiment, highlighting PhilTower’s commitment to supporting national development goals.
“We are honored to work with BCDA, an organization that shares our belief in the transformative power of digital technology. This collaboration will not only improve connectivity but also contribute to the socio-economic growth of key locations like Bonifacio Global City and New Clark City,” he said.
The partnership is expected to set a new benchmark for public-private collaborations in digital infrastructure, with both organizations optimistic about elevating the Philippines’ position in the global digital economy.
Their mutual goal is to deliver unparalleled connectivity to pivotal areas, empowering communities and driving economic growth. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
