CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Mimaropa awarded and turned-over post-harvest equipment to the municipality of Kalayaan, Palawan during the 3rd Sustainable and Innovative Agriculture (SINAG) sa Balay Oma Anniversary and Signing of Memorandum of Agreement of the Collaborative Provincial Agricultural and Fisheries Extension Program (CPAFEP) at the Provincial Agriculture Center, Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City on December 12, 2023.
Included in the turn-over are one (1) unit of economic blast freezer, 50 pieces of ice cooler, two (2) units of industrial electronic weight measuring machine, 100 pieces of crate storage, 20 pieces of plastic matting, one (1) unit of seawater flake ice machine, one (1) unit of generator set, one (1) unit of vacuum packing machine, and 20 packs of vacuum packing bags.
This activity is under the “Capacitating Municipal Fisherfolk in the West Philippine Sea” project of BFAR. Said equipment will be used by the local government in the operation of their Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC).
At the core of SINAG sa Balay Oma is the concept of a learning site, where community members actively engage in educational activities aimed at enhancing their skills and understanding of environmentally friendly practices. The program provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge, bringing together local expertise and external resources to create a holistic learning environment.
Also, in attendance and to show support in the activity are representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Mimaropa. (JJGS/PIA Mimaropa)
