BFAR, PCG conduct maritime domain awareness flights

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) flights from Subic Bay International Airport using aircraft RP-1077 to monitor Philippine government vessels providing fuel subsidies and food aid to fishermen in Bajo de Masinloc (BDM).

This morning, they observed four BFAR vessels, two PCG vessels, and 26 Filipino fishing boats, along with five China Coast Guard vessels and one People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA-N) vessel.

A second flight confirmed a floating barrier at BDM’s southeastern entrance and spotted an unidentified People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLA-NAF) helicopter.

The mission highlights BFAR and PCG’s commitment to maritime security and the welfare of Filipino fishermen.
