BFP Baguio ramps up fire safety awareness campaign

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Baguio is ramping up its fire safety awareness campaign following the alarming report of 78 fire incidents in the first quarter of the year, and as the Christmas season approaches.

The BFP has identified overloading of electrical wirings and electrical arcing as major causes of  fire incidents.

With the increased use of electrical decorations and appliances during the holiday season, BFP Chief Public Information Officer SFO1 Lloyd Furigay urged the residents to be extra cautious and conduct regular inspections of their electrical systems especially those  that are more than ten years.

He also stressed the importance of immediate reporting of fire incidents through  BFP  hotline, 442-2222, as soon as the fire starts.

The BFP advises families to be vigilant and cautious as the festive season draws near, noting the higher fire risks during holidays.

Parents are also encouraged to educate their children on fire safety preparedness to ensure that everyone in the household knows how to respond in case of emergency.

By intensifying these efforts, the BFP aims to reduce fire incidents and keep the community safe especially this holiday season. (JDP/DEG/Fatima Gilledo, PIA CAR- PHINMA UPang Intern)
