BFP Davao City to conduct house-to-house fire safety inspections

DAVAO CITY (PIA) — The Bureau of Fire Protection Davao City Fire District strengthened its commitment to fire safety through the implementation of Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan—a proactive initiative where firefighters conduct house-to-house inspections, identify potential fire hazards, and educate residents on essential preventive measures.

This program aims to enhance community awareness, reduce fire risks, and promote a culture of safety and preparedness.

DCFD Intelligence and Investigation Section chief Fire Senior Insp. Shaira E. Borja, emphasized the importance of regular safety inspections and increased public awareness in minimizing fire risk and enhancing community resilience and revealed that electrical issues remain the leading cause of residential fires.

“It’s part of the program at every fire station, not just Davao City, but the entire Philippines, na mag-conduct ng mga house to house campaigns (on fire safety and prevention).” Borja said.
