SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro is on full alert status or “Code Red” for the observance of Holy Week from April 16-20, 2025.
According to SFO1 Norly Santos of BFP San Jose, their office will conduct inspections on bus terminals and the airport as part of the BFP Oplan Semana Santa and Lakbay-Alalay.
In addition to inspections, BFP will also set up tents along Aroma Beach to provide emergency first aid response for motorists, travelers, and vacationers.
(For those who will be swimming on the beach and for the vacationists, there may be drowning incidents, and emergencies as the weather is scorching. Those who will be stationed in the tents are the EMS, swimmers, and the station’s ambulance.)
A total of 32 firefighters of BFP San Jose will be deployed on the said date.
On the other hand, Santos reminds those who will be travelling to unplug their appliances before leaving their house to avoid fire incidents.
He also warned the public about the possibilities of grass fires when open fires, such as in campfires, are not properly tended.
[Kailangan] bantayan nila,” he stressed.
(That is the usual cause of grass fires, especially in our weather, where grass fires are frequent. They have to keep an eye on open fires.)
The BFP’s Oplan Semana Santa and Lakbay-Alalay is an annual activity, providing safety to the public during Holy Week. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA-Occidental Mindoro)
