QUEZON CITY (PIA) — In today’s 14th episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) will highlight several key accomplishments and ongoing initiatives under the leadership of the Department of Justice.
Among the BI’s achievements is the implementation of the eTravel System, which has streamlined travel processes by consolidating all necessary documentation into a single digital platform. This has significantly improved the efficiency of immigration procedures.
Additionally, the BI expanded its Online Application Payment System through the E-Services Portal, making it easier for users to handle transactions online. The Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) was another major highlight, allowing for the pre-screening of passengers before they arrive in the country, thereby enhancing border security. Furthermore, the introduction of new border stamps reflects the agency’s commitment to modernizing its operations and preventing unauthorized entries.
The BI will also provide updates on ongoing projects, including the nearing completion of the new BI Main and Annex Smart Building, which is expected to enhance service delivery with cutting-edge technology. Efforts to further develop IT systems and infrastructure will be mentioned as crucial to supporting the agency’s digital transformation. The expansion of E-gates at international ports was also mentioned, which aims to improve the travel experience by reducing processing times.
The BI will also discuss its Rationalization Program, designed to optimize the agency’s organizational structure, and the expanded Program for Alien Typing System (EXPATS), which enhances the management of foreign nationals’ records.
Today’s Kapihan will be led by the Department of Justice and will be represented by its five major agencies: the National Prosecution Service, the Bureau of Immigration, Parole and Probation Administration, Public Attorney’s Office and Land Registration Administration.
The Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas is a weekly forum conducted simultaneously nationwide, designed to inform and engage the public on government initiatives and programs.
