DAET, Camarines Norte (PIA) — Hundreds of young leaders from the province joined the local police force during the re-launching of the Philippine National Police (PNP) community safety initiatives in Camarines Norte last Feb. 7.
One of the more than 600 participants, John Aries Aldea, expressed his support for the police initiative to build partnerships with youth.
Aldea emphasized that crime is a community issue, not solely a police matter.
“The solution to crime lies in crime prevention. As a student of legal management, I am eager to use my knowledge to help prevent crimes in our beloved province,” said the 21-year-old student from the School of Law in Daet.
Aldea accepted the challenge from fellow young leaders to lead the Kabataan Kontra Kriminalidad (KKK)) chapter in the province.
Princess Neziah Nolasco, an 11th-grade student at Vinzons Pilot High School, shared her insights on crime prevention during the forum, which highlighted the launch of KKK.
She said that, in addition to addressing the issues of drugs, terrorism, and crime, the forum also offered valuable insights for those aspiring to become politicians and serve in the government.
“In their communities, youth leaders can raise awareness among younger individuals and share the information they learned at the forum,” she said.
PNP Bicol Regional Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon emphasized that today’s youth and future generations will comprise the majority of government officials and hold significant positions of responsibility.
“We want you to be informed and to enhance your skills,” Dizon said.
He encouraged young people to engage actively in their communities.
Dizon noted that the KKK initiative will address not only common crimes, terrorism, and illegal drugs, but also violence against women and children (VAWC), as well as crimes against persons and property.
“If you witness a crime, especially VAWC, you can step forward to serve as a complainant,” he said. (PIA5/Camarines Norte)
