SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna (PIA) – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is embracing digitalization to deliver more convenient, accurate, and secure tax payment services.
During the Philippine Information Agency Calabarzon’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, Atty. Dante E. Tan, Officer-in-Charge Regional Director of BIR Revenue Region 9B Laguna-Quezon-Marinduque Office, highlighted the bureau’s digitalization initiatives aimed at providing convenient services to the public and enhancing tax collection processes.
“We are implementing and promoting the use of online services as part of the bureau’s digitalization program. These electronic services allow taxpayers to conduct transactions from the convenience of their homes or offices,” Tan explained.
Tan mentioned that services available online include scheduling appointments, the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS), ePayment, Electronic Bureau of Internal Revenue Forms (eBIRForms), the Electronic Audited Financial Statements (eAFS), and the Electronic Tax Clearance System (eTCS).
“BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. aims to provide efficient and timely services to our taxpayers, achieved by streamlining processes such as registration and tax payments,” Tan added.
In addition to adopting digitalization, the BIR director emphasized the bureau’s ongoing efforts to improve how it reaches taxpayers and to identify ways to provide high-quality service.
“Our commissioner believes that when taxpayers are well-informed and satisfied with the services provided by the BIR, they are more likely to pay accurately and comply with their tax obligations,” he said.
As the primary agency responsible for tax collection, Tan affirmed the improved delivery of services to large companies and corporations, which contribute significantly to BIR’s overall collections. At the same time, the BIR assured the public that small and medium taxpayers will also be readily accommodated. (CO/PIA-4A)
