BIR assures taxpayers faster, more efficient digital services

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) shared that it is using digital tools to improve service delivery and expedite processes, benefiting taxpayers.

BIR Revenue Region (RR) No. 18 Regional Director Christine Juliet R. Chua and Kidapawan City District Officer Dexter L. Ng discussed the agency’s digitalization efforts to reach more taxpayers during the 20th episode of “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas” on Oct. 8.

The officials highlighted the agency’s eServices, such as the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS).

“ORUS, is a web-based system that provides a more convenient end-to-end process for the registration of taxpayers and updates their registration. ORUS can also issue a digital ID and a taxpayer feedback mechanism for an online survey,” Chua said.

She also discussed other public online services accessible through the BIR website, such as ePayment, eAppointment, the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS), and the Electronic Tax Clearance System (eTCS).

“As we speak, the national office is gearing toward the full digitalization of our services,” Ng added.

By 2028, all BIR services are likely to be accessible via cellphone or laptop, reducing the need for queues during transactions, particularly for those who come from remote places, he said.

Both officials noted that BIR’s aspiration to become highly digital by 2028 aims to improve efficiency, make services more accessible to taxpayers in remote areas, and promote transparency in tax administration.

They also conveyed the agency’s determination to maintain efficient service delivery, tax collection, and enforcement of tax laws both online and offline. (PIA Region 12)
