BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue-Revenue District 2 or BIR-CAR calls on Cordillera taxpayers to pay the correct taxes to help attain the vision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of a progressive and inclusive Bagong Pilipinas.
BIR-CAR Regional Director Corazon Balinas made the call during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Tuesday (October 8), pointing out that President’s vision of a new Philippines is a nation where everyone work hand in hand for the development of the country.
“We, at the BIR-CAR, support the mandate as we believe that the bureau and the taxpayers are partners and instruments for a common goal. We acknowledge the important role of every individual to support the Philippines through contributions especially that of paying the correct taxes. We also believe that with these taxes, the government is able to serve its people in order to hone them to become strong and able individuals,” Balinas said.
For the BIR-CAR tax collection accomplishments, Balinas shared that their revenue collection target for this year is P12 Billion and so far, they are on track with around P7.94 billion collection as of October 7 data.
All revenue district offices in the Cordillera provinces and Baguio City are contributing to the good performance of BIR Revenue Region 2. Based on the BIR-CAR data from January 1 to Oct. 7, Abra exceeded its collection target by 63.19 percent, Baguio City by 14 percent, Benguet by 52.35 percent, Kalinga/Apayao by 15.05 percent and Ifugao by 16.73 percent.
For the past two months, BIR-CAR’s collections have been exceeding the targets wherein in September, actual collection was around P991.75 million against the target of around P864.80 million. For August, collection was about P1.03 billion surpassing the target of P935.60 million by 10.61 percent.
According to Balinas, the BIR-CAR’s revenue collection in 2023 was around P10.36 billion, which exceeded its 2022 revenue collection by 36.21 percent.
Top industry sectors contributing to the higher revenue collection in the region are infrastructure projects, public services, power generation, businesses, education, ancillary service and housing, Balinas said. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
