BIR Central Visayas aims to collect over P55B for 2025

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The Bureau of Internal Revenue-Central Visayas targets collecting more than P55 billion in taxes  for 2025, as part of its continued efforts to strengthen the country’s revenue generation system.

BIR Revenue Region 13, which covers five district offices in Cebu and Bohol, aims to collect a total of P55,143,578,000 in taxes for the fiscal year 2025.

BIR RR 13 officer-in-charge Antonino L. Ilagan is confident that they will exceed their tax collection target this year.

“For this year, the collection goal of our region is P55 billion, and through our information caravans and tax campaign seminars, we are positive that we will meet and exceed our collection target for this year,” Ilagan noted.

BIR RR 13 exceeded its target of P41.94 billion by 1.65 percent in 2023, collecting P42.63 billion by the end of the year.

In 2024, the bureau set a collection goal of P48.82 billion, which they also surpassed by 0.71 percent after they collected P49.17 billion.

Ilagan added that these tax collection achievements set a strong precedent as they look to further increase their collections this year.

He said their agency is also strengthening the implementation of their eServices in line with BIR’s goal of adapting to the digital transformation to create more efficient systems and processes for the collection and payment of taxes.

“In order to facilitate the needs, expectations, and wants of our taxpayers, we have implemented the digitalization of our services. We now have various eServices, such as eFiling and Payment System, eBiRForms, and eAppointment, where our taxpayers no longer need to go to our office to pay their taxes,” Ilagan added.

Taxpayers can settle their tax obligations through the authorized agent banks or the bureau’s accredited revenue collection agents.

The agency also reminded individuals and businesses to file their annual income tax returns (ITR) through the BIR’s Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) by visiting the BIR’s official website at www.bir.gov.ph.

With the tax season in full swing, the BIR is urging all taxpayers to submit their annual ITRs ahead of the April 15 deadline to ensure timely compliance and avoid the necessary penalties. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
