CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is encouraging the public to use the agency’s online registration system.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency on October 8, Atty. Eric P. Diesto, OIC-Regional Director of BIR Revenue Region-9A, said that taxpayers can now use the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS) to update personal information or register and receive a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the comfort of their own homes.
Diesto said that the ORUS is in line with BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.’s vision to pursue digital innovation to improve the delivery of taxpayer service.
“Pwede na pong mag-apply online sa pagkuha ng TIN para hindi na po kailangan pang pumunta sa BIR office. Mag a-upload lang po tayo ng mga requirements natin para ma-generate po yung TIN number sa inyo,” he said.
For standard requirements, BIR noted to just scan and upload any government-issued ID such as PhilID/ePhilID, Passport, or Driver’s License/eDriver’s License that shows the name, address, and birthdate of the applicant. In case the ID bears no address, any proof of residence or business address can be presented.
Diesto added that the ORUS website, https://orus.bir.gov.ph/home, aims to alleviate the problem of the proliferation of counterfeit TIN identification cards (IDs).
The BIR has shared a QR code on its social media platforms, allowing taxpayers to easily access the ORUS page on the BIR website to create their accounts. (AS/PIA MIMAROPA)
