MAKATI CITY, (PIA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in the National Capital Region (NCR) is pushing for increased revenue collection through enhanced service excellence and strict enforcement of tax laws. This commitment aims to provide a seamless experience for every taxpayer.
During the 20th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas (KBP) held on Tuesday at the BIR office in Makati City, regional directors presented their accomplishments and programs that have significantly contributed to revenue collection and nation-building efforts.
Regional Director Edgar B. Tolentino of BIR Region No. 8B – South NCR reported that his region is the bureau’s top revenue generator, contributing 15.45 percent to the total BIR revenue, the highest among the 22 revenue regions nationwide.
Mahinardo G. Mailig, Regional Director of Revenue Region 7A – Quezon City, emphasized the importance of engaging taxpayers through educational programs, seminars, and roadshows to empower citizens in meeting their tax obligations.
Similarly, Renato N. Molina, Regional Director for RR6 Manila and RR8A Makati City, highlighted their regions’ strong collection performance, which has resulted in high levels of taxpayer satisfaction and a positive working environment for employees.
In addition to boosting revenue collection, the BIR is actively enforcing tax laws to combat tax evasion. Regional Director Albino M. Galanza of Revenue Region 7B – East NCR stressed the importance of clear communication of plans and programs to taxpayers to ensure compliance.
Molina also noted the bureau’s goal of achieving 100 percent digitalization by 2028, which aims to streamline processes and enhance service delivery for taxpayers across the region. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
