BIR opens e-Lounge to help taxpayers in digital transactions

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has unveiled its new e-Lounge in various regional and district offices to assist taxpayers with digital transactions, making tax services more accessible and convenient.

BIR LaQueMar Regional Director Atty. Dante Tan explained that the e-Lounge is made for taxpayers who lack familiarity with BIR’s digital platforms.

“As for those who are not techy, we can teach them. We have what is called an e-Lounge in each District Office where there are computers and printers which they can use for free. There are also BIR staff who will assist them to teach them how to use, how to access our online services,” Tan said.

With the increasing shift to online transactions, BIR recognizes that some taxpayers may struggle to adapt to digital platforms. The e-Lounge serves as a bridge to assist individuals and businesses in making this transition.

The e-Lounge aims to provide on-the-spot assistance for taxpayers who need help navigating BIR’s online services, including the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS), eBIRForms, and online business registration.

With more transactions moving online, the e-Lounge ensures that individuals and businesses receive proper guidance and education in adapting to digital tax systems.

“The digitization program is one of the priority projects of our Commissioner Romeo ‘Jun’ Lumagui Jr., so we had a massive campaign to use our online services, which are available on the BIR website”, Tan stated.

The director expects that the digitization program of the bureau will reduce red tape and lessen the amount of time spent waiting and transacting in their offices.

This initiative aligns with the BIR’s commitment to streamlining services and minimizing paperwork, making tax compliance more convenient for individuals and businesses alike. (AM, CH/PIA-4A)
