BIR RDO 98 renews call for Kagay-anon taxpayers to pay correct taxes

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 98 has renewed its call for Kagay-anon taxpayers to pay the correct taxes.

Revenue District Officer Monib Y. Dimalomping reiterated the importance of honest and accurate tax payments during the 2025 tax campaign kickoff in Cagayan de Oro City on February 17.

In his remarks, Dimalomping emphasized the critical role taxes play in nation-building.

“The taxes we pay directly support public infrastructures and essential services, including the construction of roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals, the salary of our hardworking teachers, soldiers, and government employees, and many other public programs that benefit all Filipinos,” he said.

He emphasized that taxes should not be viewed as a burden but as an investment in the country’s future and a contribution to the well-being of future generations.

Dimalomping also celebrated the performance of RDO 98, which surpassed its 2024 collection target by 3.27 percent, generating an additional P318.37 million over its P9.726 billion goal. This success contributed to the strong performance of Revenue Region No. 16, where RDO 98 is situated, ranking No. 7 nationwide in collection performance.

He attributed this success to the continued collaboration between the BIR and responsible taxpayers in the region. He hoped that this positive trend would continue throughout this year.

In 2025, Dimalomping said the BIR will intensify enforcement programs, including Oplan Kandado, audits and investigation, surveillance and inventory stock-taking, tax compliance verification drives, and drives targeting tax evaders. Recently, a tax compliance verification drive was conducted by RDO 98 from February 10 to 14 to educate taxpayers and assist them in ensuring compliance.

Dimalomping also shared that efforts to enhance the taxpayer experience are ongoing, with plans to fully digitalize the system by 2026 or 2027, streamlining tax compliance for greater ease and convenience. (APB/PIA-10)
