IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The recent Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Zamboanga Peninsula featured the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)-9, sharing important updates and accomplishments to improve tax collection and compliance.
Aynie Mandajoyan-Dizon, regional director of BIR-9, presented the bureau’s latest initiatives and milestones, underscoring commitment to better serve taxpayers.
She highlighted several developments achieved by the bureau and one of the major topics of the discussion was the Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) Act or Republic Act No. 11976
“BIR is embarking on programs that would bring better service in making tax compliance easier,” she said.

EOPT or RA 11976 simplifies tax compliance in the country by streamlining processes such as electronic tax filing, removing the requirement to file at specific revenue offices, and reducing penalties for small businesses.
This legislation also adjusts VAT calculations and withholding tax rules, making it easier for taxpayers to fulfill their obligations efficiently
Aside from streamlining tax filing processes, the law also encourages greater compliance and enhances revenue collection for the government.
Mandajoyan-Dizon also spoke about BIR-9’s successful endeavors, such as the ISO 9001:2015 certification for primary and secondary registration, which reflects the bureau’s commitment to maintaining high-quality management systems and improving service delivery.
She mentioned BIR’s digital services such as the online registration and update and the electronic filing and payment systems, aiming to simplify processes and offer convenient options for taxpayers to meet their responsibilities.
These efforts align with the national government’s push towards digital transformation in public services. BIR continues to ensure that complying and paying taxes becomes a hassle-free experience for everyone in region 9. (EDT/RBI/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
