CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – Children of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Naujan District Jail in Oriental Mindoro received assistance through a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) outreach program.
As part of the BJMP MIMAROPA’s “Kalinga sa Anak ng PDL Program,” the daylong activity inside the facility provided dental awareness and hygiene kits, gift packages, food packs, and activities such as reading and painting sessions to six children of PDLs.
BJMP MIMAROPA Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo said the outreach focused on hope, resilience and maintaining family connections for PDLs.
“Recognizing the importance of family connection and communication for the PDLs, the initiative aims to bring hope, comfort, and essential support to their children, reinforcing the BJMP’s commitment to community service and social responsibility,” Anglo said.

He said the event provided a significant opportunity for BJMP MIMAROPA to share essential services and raise awareness about the bureau’s programs.
Anglo said the children showed their gratitude through smiles and happiness, making the event meaningful for them.
“Their smiles and joy were strong indicators that they were genuinely happy and that all the extended support was worth it,” he said.
BJMP MIMAROPA remains dedicated to uplifting communities and extending hope to those in need through initiatives like the “Kalinga sa Anak ng PDL Program,” he said. (AS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro/With information and photos from BJMP MIMAROPA)
