TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — To boost measures that will keep Bohol free from the Avian Influenza (bird flu), new guidelines have been put in place in regulating the entry of potential carriers in the province.
Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado has recently issued Executive Order No. 15, series of 2025 amending E.O. 15 which set the guidelines and regulating the entry of live poultry, captured wild ornamental birds, and non-poultry, poultry products, and by-products here.
E.O. 15 now requires the submission of a Certificate of Acceptance from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian in Bohol, in addition to the other documentary requirements outlined earlier in E.O. 19, series of 2022.
The new order also specifies the prohibition on the entry of poultry products from areas declared by the Department of Agriculture to be affected with bird flu.
The additional safety measure also aims to ensure the supply chain continuity and the local food sufficiency.
E.O. 19 allowed the entry of poultry and poultry products provided the shipment is accompanied by a veterinary health certificate from the Provincial Veterinarian where the avian species originated, together with a veterinary shipping permit issued by the Bureau of Animal Industry or its deputized Veterinary Quarantine Officer.
The shipment must also show the following: Avian Influenza Negative Test Results, a Certificate of Avian Influenza-Free status issued by the Provincial Veterinarian stating that no bird flu outbreak has occurred in the source farm in the past seven days prior to shipment, and a Local Transport Permit issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for wild and domesticated birds.
Bird flu is a highly contagious viral disease caused by the avian influenza virus which affects all kinds of birds and poultry. (RAHC/PIA Bohol)
