QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday reminded the public that bomb jokes are strictly prohibited in all forms of transportation in the country.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista issued the reminder himself following the bomb threat received by Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) last Friday.
According to Bautista, the ban on bomb jokes is not only limited to air travel, but also applicable to all types of transportation.
He also called on the public not to make the bomb threat a joke and warned that it is punishable by imprisonment and fines.
“There is [appropriate] punishment, not just on the plane, but in all modes of transport. That’s why we are calling on our kababayans not to make bomb threats a joke,” Bautista said in a radio interview. “If they are found guilty, there will be imprisonment and there will be a [corresponding] fine.”
Meanwhile, Bautista also assured that the bomb threat received by the MRT-3 was just a hoax or fraud.
He said the authorities have thoroughly investigated the incident and they have also traced the source of this email. (PIA-NCR)
