Bontoc LGU leads ‘Serbisyo Caravan’ to ELCAC barangays

BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) – – The local government of Bontoc through the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) recently spearheaded the delivery of services and information to conflict-affected  barangays in the municipality.

Through the  Serbisyo Caravan to Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP), different government agencies including the provincial government and the Office of the Congressman,  provided services to the residents of barangays Alab Proper on May 8,  Balili on  9, and Talubin on May 15.

Among the services offered include free medical check-up, free haircut, financial assistance distribution, and onsite enrolment of farmers in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, application to the Philippines Crop Corporation, and  national  identification card registration.

Other participating offices conducted information drive about their respective  services and programs.

Bontoc Mayor Jerome Tudlong leads the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in bringing the Serbisyo caravan to the five ELCAC barangays namely; Alab Proper, Balili, Talubin, Bayyo, and Malibcong, which are the focus areas of convergence efforts in 2024.

Mayor Jerome B. Tudlong urged the community to avail of the services provided by the different government agencies, and to take the opportunity to ask their queries.

“Umali kayu ta indamag kayu. Nanaay da met lang nan kakadwa tapnu maamuwan yu nu anya nan programan di gobyerno. Take this opportunity. To all of us, let us learn, agdamag tayu ta habang completo danay ay opisina,” Tudlong said.

Balili Barangay captain  Henry L. Atiwag, expressed his gratitude to the participating government agencies.

“Iya-iyaman sin inmalian para sina Serbisyo Caravan. Sinan naduma-duma nga agency mid inbaga da ay madi nudiket inbaga da ti naduma-duma nga programa da, isunga salamat,” he shared.

The Serbisyo Caravan is aimed to provide free government services and assistance to the communities in remote areas as part of the whole of nation approach to end local communist armed conflict in the country.

By bringing essential services to the communities, the government not only addresses immediate needs but also builds trust and resilience, the Bontoc LGU stated.

The Serbisyo caravan will also be conducted in barangays Bayyo and Maligcong, the  two other  identified ELCAC areas which are the focus of convergence efforts this year.(JDP/VJLT-PIA Mt. Province)
