Borongan City frontliners train on Filipino brand of service excellence

BORONGAN CITY (PIA) – The Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with the Borongan City Tourism Office (BCTO), has recently conducted a two-day training on the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) at Stellar Hotel, in this city.

According to Josephine Marissa A. Acorin, tourism officer of BCTO, the training aimed to enhance the service skills of the city government employees, tourism stakeholders, and frontliners.

Acorin added that the training also highlighted the importance of delivering service with the distinct “Mabuhay” gesture, a signature aspect of the Filipino brand of hospitality.

One of the participants, Jamaica Osias, front desk officer at Doña Vicenta Hotel, shared that she learned valuable lessons, especially about the proper way of saying “Mabuhay” and incorporating the 7Ms of Filipino values in customer service.

These values are Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Maka-Bansa, Maka-Kalikasan, Masiyahin, May-Bayanihan, and May-Pag-asa.

Acorin also noted that around 205 participants attended the training, including members of local women’s groups, former rebels now serving as tour guides, Borongan City lifeguards, City Tourism employees, staff from Fun Borongan Ticketing Office, concessionaires at Baybay Boulevard, Tau Gamma Phi members, representatives from LeySam, tourism interns from Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) – Borongan Main Campus, and hotel and restaurant owners and managers in the city.

The training was facilitated by Ronald L. Ricafort, an accredited FBSE trainer and the City Tourism Officer of Calbayog.

The activity was made possible through the full support of the City Government of Borongan, led by Mayor Jose Ivan “Dayan” C. Agda. (SDC/PIA-Eastern Samar)
