COTABATO CITY (PIA) – In a bid to promote and maintain a strong financial system in the Bangsamoro region, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has recently inaugurated its new building located in Cotabato City.
The opening of the new BSP Cotabato branch office is part of the bank’s strong efforts to support a strong economy and promote a high quality of life for all Filipinos, especially Bangsamoro residents.
During the inauguration ceremony, BSP deputy governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat emphasized that the new BSP facility in the city serves as a beacon of modernity and sustainability.
“As Cotabato City and BARMM work to improve the quality of life for their residence, the BSP remains your committed partner,” she said.
She also emphasized how the new building’s energy- and water-efficient systems support the BSP’s goal for sustainable central banking.
The BSP regional branches perform cash operations, such as withdrawal, deposit, currency exchange and retirement, gold-buying operations in select areas, branch accounting, economic and financial learning and advocacy, and regional economic surveillance.
“Let this new BSP Cotabato building represent our commitment to this lasting partnership,” Romulo-Puyat stressed.
Meanwhile, Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim pointed out the important role of the BSP Cotabato in strengthening financial infrastructure, facilitating financial education and digitalization, and strengthening regional interagency engagement.
“This decision to expand the BSP Cotabato is a clear indication of your commitment to serving the region and supporting our economic growth,” Ebrahim said. (LTB – PIA Cotabato City)
