BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Baguio City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) is urging building owners to support and comply with the National Building Code to protect public safety and general welfare.
The Code provides for all buildings and structures a framework of minimum standards and requirements to regulate and control their location, site, design quality of materials, construction, use, occupancy, and maintenance.
The National Building Code also requires each building or establishment to comply with the structural, architectural, sanitary, and electrical standards.
CBAO Assistant Head Engineer Stephen Capuyan called on unregistered households and establishments to register their houses for inspection.
Capuyan explained that everyone should comply with the National Building regardless if the house or building is located in a titled or unregistered property the house or building.
He stated that even though the lot is unregistered, owners have nothing to fear because their documents will be archived until such time that they can process the documents of their land.
“The archived documents will be used to approve their building permit. The documents can either be the original or photocopy of their documents,” he said.
With the help of the tax declaration and tools like Google map, CBAO can survey which land is titled and which is unregistered. Capuyan calls for support for their Building Permit Program.
To those who are hesitant to have their property assessed due to financial concerns for the hiring engineers and architects, Capuyan stated that CBAO provides these services for affordable prices.
