Bukidnon State U thanks Misamis Oriental for support to students

ALUBUJID, Misamis Oriental (PIA) — Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Alubijid campus is thankful to the provincial government of Misamis Oriental for its continued support, particularly through scholarship programs that have made higher education more accessible.

Campus head Eric Matthew Sinerpida said the Iskolar Ko ng Bayan (IKNB) program has been instrumental in helping students stay in school.

“We are very fortunate enough that we have scholars here form the Iskolar Ko ng Bayan program. Kana, nakadasig na sa atong mga estudyante hilabi na nga kasagara gaskwela sa atong eskwelahan are less fortunate nga students and through that financial assistance madasig gyud sila nga magpadayon og eskwela,” said Sinerpida.

(We are very fortunate enough that we have scholars here from the Iskolar Ko ng Bayan program. That encourages our students, especially that most students in our school are less fortunate and through that financial assistance, they will be encouraged to continue with their studies.)

Noting that the campus scholars include single mothers and orphans, Sinerpida underscored the impact of IKNB in helping them continue their education despite challenging circumstances.

“They are very grateful to BukSU for giving them that opportunity. So we do hope that this institution will continue,” he said.

Sinerpida stated that some graduates have gone on to become school principals—examples, he said, of how access to education can shape futures.

He also believes in the provincial government’s Single Digit Poverty Incidence (SDPI) program, citing its role in expanding access to education in the province.

“Although we can’t eliminate poverty, we could reduce it. Through strengthening the education sector, we can lessen poverty – we can give opportunities for our graduates,” said Sinerpida.

BukSU Alubijid currently has 400 students enrolled in its Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Public Administration programs. (SAYU/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
