SANTA CRUZ, Marinduque (PIA) — To empower the local buri weavers and handicraft makers in the province, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-MIMAROPA through the Provincial Office recently conducted Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) Training at Brgy. Devilla, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque.
A total of 25 members of Kapatirang Marinduqueño – Devilla Producers Cooperative had undergone development and upgrading of their capabilities in the areas of leadership, organizational development, management, labor and human relations, general labor standards, occupational safety and health (OSH), and productivity.
During the morning session, Christian Mark Rodelas, Livelihood Development Specialist, focused on enhancing cooperative governance, leadership, and sustainable growth. He also guided the participants on implementing social impact and community development by presenting best practices that the organization can adopt.
Meanwhile, Assistant Labor Inspector Engr. Raymart Narzoles discussed labor laws and compliance. He also emphasized the importance of OSH in the workplace, identifying the issues and concerns among the members of the association and how to prevent certain accidents by providing control measures.
Following the session, Atty. Grace Lyn Carboro-Pantaleon, Board Secretary of Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) MIMAROPA, helped the participants understand the concept of productivity and lean management. In addition, Pantaleon shared tips on how to efficiently manage their resources and utilize each member’s experience skills, knowledge, and creativity for an effective production.

Also present in the activity were the Municipal Government of Sta, Cruz representative, Atty. Revo Red, Livelihood Development Specialist Michelle Zulueta, DOLE, and RTWPB personnel. (RAMR/KKB/PIA MIMAROPA – Marinduque)
