PASAY CITY — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) completed a critical system upgrade of its Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) system at 2:47 AM today, September 30, without any operational disruptions or flight diversions.
The process began at 12:31 AM and concluded smoothly within the scheduled timeframe. By 3:01 AM, all airport operations resumed as normal, and the temporary flow control measures were lifted at 3:05 AM.
Throughout the upgrade, air traffic was effectively managed during a critical system upgrade of its CNS/ATM system, as international overflights safely traversed the Philippine Flight Information Region under procedural control provided by the Manila Area Control Center. All departures and arrivals nationwide were efficiently managed, ensuring that flights reached their destinations safely and on time.
This upgrade is a significant milestone in launching an improved Air Traffic Management System (ATMS) software version that enhances the efficiency, safety, and reliability of air traffic management across Philippine airspace. (CAAP)
